FIRST IMPRESSIONS

At a glance, Mafuyu is a girl of fairly average height, with dark purple hair tied up in a ponytail with an orange hairtie adorned with a pale purple bead that resembles a pearl and bright blue eyes. She's polite, humble, friendly and helpful, and combined with her good grades and high athleticism Mafuyu is incredibly popular with other students in her school. She's also a talented musician, being the lyricist and mixer for 25-ji, Nightcord de., an underground music group that hopes to bring happiness to it's listeners while also reaching hard-hitting subjects that many can relate to. No one knows of her actual involvement in this group as she works under the alias "Yuki", but they're popular in their own right.

PERSONALITY

On the surface, and as far as practically the whole world is aware, Mafuyu Asahina is the perfect girl and the perfect daughter. She's polite, friendly, humble, and diligent. She works hard and excels in everything, from academics to athletics to the arts, and everyone considers her to be dependable and reliable. Mafuyu has met everyone's expectations in the past, and will continue to do so, after all.

HOLLOW

When no one is watching, Mafuyu is cold and blunt. By her own opinion, she is devoid of emotion and empathy, and is plagued with apathy... causing her to desperately search for her "true self", given that she abandoned her own desires and thoughts to suit everyone else's standards and desires a long time ago. Her voice is cold and flat, and her face shows no emotion as there is none to show at all, and she doesn't say more than what's needed. While she isn't 'kind', she is honest. The lack of ambition and very little free will also means that she tends to either do as told, or will not think for herself at all- and in the few times she does make her own choice, she doesn't communicate freely.

DEPRESSED

Although she's been pulled back from the brink, Mafuyu is in dire need to rediscover her own emotions and thoughts. Although the rest of her group are keeping her steady, they only discovered something was wrong when she reached her lowest point and retreated to the Empty SEKAI to disappear into it for good, intending on dying there. Though she's willing to let Kaede try and save her, she's made more than one comment on how it must have been easier to be unbothered and alone in regards to others despite the group efforts.

BACKSTORY

Mafuyu Asahina at a glance comes from a normal, if not well-off background. She's the only child of an upper-middle class family with a stay-at-home mother and a father who works an unspecified job. Mafuyu has only ever had their support and love... but even support can be detrimental if it's twisted. As Mafuyu entered high school and began thinking about her life and future, her parents began to pressure her to reach higher than she actually wanted to. One such instance is when they asked what she wanted to do for a living and, when she replied "nurse", pressured her into becoming a doctor instead and began making plans to aid in this career path instead, making her feel compelled to go along with it despite her own wishes. It's implied this isn't the first or last time they did this to her as well, and coupled with how her classmates often relied on her and talked her up, everything began to mount until she gave up being her own self and instead acted to suit others.
